Incursion

Two art pieces pursuing a slightly different direction for me…  These are more about delineating space, mapping the void within the space, and how that void serves a purpose and becomes overlaid with pattern/meaning.

The ‘space is’ marked/measured by the “L” shaped marks, which contain a central sphere. I am thinking of this space in the center as an area of simultaneous density and void, an area of possible creation. Both of these pieces incorporate a a generic floral pattern: a typical, if excessive, wallpaper pattern. The patterning has served in my work as distraction through beautification, an ornate myopia blinding or seducing us, it often points out the social and cultural programming that initiates reaction despite embedded content.

There is still a spacial/physical/psychological abstraction I think I would like to exploring more. It may just take some more time…
